Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Fort, Belagavi

After 3 days of his stay in Belagavi, Swamiji was introduced by Shri Bhate to Shri Haripada Mitra, the then Sub-divisional forest officer in the city. Shri Haripada Mitra took Swamiji to his house where he stayed for the remaining 9 days of his stay at Belagavi.

In June 2000, this house of Shri Haripada Mitra was gifted by the Government of Karnataka to the Ramakrishna Mission to start a branch centre in Belagavi. A Universal Temple of Sri Ramakrishna was built and consecrated on January 23, 2004. The house where Swamiji spent 9 days as a guest of Shri Haripada Mitra is now converted into the Swami Vivekananda Monument.
